Trick to simplify the directory structure

You know the category archive always use some directory structure like: http://example.org/category/your-own-category-name/ To simplify it, I remove the category. So the new one will be looks like: http://example.org/your-own-category-name/ The setting is go to Settings > Permalinks > Category base Enter full stop (.) to this field and save it.

Upgrade to WordPress 2.6.2
